Frequently Asked Questions
Welcome to ePropertyWatch FAQs
How can I add another person to my account?
Answer:
Currently, ePropertyWatch supports one email address per property, however, enhancements to this are planned for the future. Please check the site for updates.
How can I change the address of property I want to monitor?
Answer:
If you recently moved and want to change your address with ePropertyWatch, please submit a help request here. Be sure to include your name and email, along with the address of the property currently being monitored and your new address. We will cancel the monitoring of the current property, which will enable you to register your new home. Please be aware that when you register your new home, there is a good chance that your name will not appear on the owner list since this is a recent sale. So, you'll need to select the name of the previous owner. Since we monitor public record filings, you will eventually receive an alert when the deed from your purchase is detected by our system.
How can I monitor more than one property?
Answer:
Currently, ePropertyWatch supports monitoring a single property per email address. As we continue to expand and improve the product, additional features like multiple property monitoring will be added. In the meantime, the best thing to do is to register your other home(s) using a different email address for each. While this may not be the optimal solution, it is currently the only way you can enjoy the security of ePropertyWatch monitoring on all of the homes you own.
How come some recent sales or foreclosures not showing up?
Answer:
We update the information on ePropertyWatch as soon as it becomes available from the county. Depending on where you live, it can take anywhere from a few days, to weeks or even months if you're in a rural area to show the most recent sales and foreclosures.
How do I find out additional information about foreclosures?
Answer:
ePropertyWatch currently displays new foreclosure activity in your area that has occurred in the past 30 days. If you are really interested in researching foreclosure activity and expanding your search into other areas, we recommend RealQuest Express, which offers unlimited foreclosure research for $49 /mo. There is a 7-day free trial and no long term commitment.
How do I sign up?
Answer:
Simply enter your property address on the home page, then choose your name from the dropdown list on the next screen, and complete the registration. If the system is unable to find your property it means the service isn't available in your area. Once you register, you'll need to click the link in the confirmation email. If it doesn't arrive, please check your spam folder.
How do I unsubscribe, opt-out, or cancel service?
Answer:
If you want to stop future emails from eProperyWatch, you can opt-out by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any alert email. If you want to completely cancel your monitoring and have your personal information removed from our database, please submit a help request here. Be sure to include your name, address and email address used on the account and we will promptly remove your information.
How much does it cost?
Answer:
Nothing. It’s Free to use. No strings attached. We won’t ask you for your credit card.
Is it safe? Private? What do I give you?
Answer:
It’s very safe, very private. The only information you provide is your property address and email address. We will only use the information you provide in accordance with our privacy policy. It costs you nothing, so we won’t ask you for a credit card number.
Is there a catch?
Answer:
No. But you rightfully ask why a valuable service like ePropertyWatch would be free for you. Like many free web services, we’ll display advertisements that we hope are valuable for you. You can choose to look at them or not. By displaying these ads, we are able to offer ePropertyWatch at no cost to you. Knowing that, you can be confident that we’ll not surprise you later by asking you for your credit card to use ePropertyWatch!
Is this a scam? Who are you guys?
Answer:
ePropertyWatch is a service of CoreLogic, which was launched from The First American Corp., a 100 year old public company (www.firstam.com). The ePropertyWatch property monitoring service has been featured in The New York Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, CNN, MSNB and many other media outlets. All of the information we have about your property is public record, which means anyone can go to your county to get it. The only non-public information we ask of you is your email address, which is required in order to send you alerts about your property.
My home isn't covered, why not?
Answer:
In order to monitor a home, we require certain records from the county where your property is located. Many counties, rural counties in particular, do not provide us with the necessary records. We are trying to add more counties to our coverage area, so please check back often.
My name is not on the list? (owned more than 90 days)
Answer:
If you have lived in your home for an extended period and your name is not on the list of owners, submit a help request here and include your name, address, purchase date and purchase price with your request. We will research the issue for you and correct any data-related errors.
My name is not on the list? (recently purchased home)
Answer:
Depending on where you live, it can take days, weeks or even months for the county to send us updated ownership records. In the meantime, you should select the previous owner's name from the list in order to register the property. When the deed showing your purchase of the property is eventually sent to us, you will receive an email alerting you to a new public record filing. If you do not receive an alert in the next 6 months, please let us know.
What do I do if my confirmation email did not arrive?
Answer:
First, please be sure to check your spam/junk folder - the confirmation email sometimes ends up there. If it's not there, please submit a help request here and include your name, property address and email address used during registration and we'll activate your account manually.
What if I disagree with the estimated value you report for my home?
Answer:
Our Home Value estimates are used by top lenders and appraisers in assessing home values. However, they only serve as a baseline estimate. They are calculated using available data, however, they don’t reflect special things about your home. Do you live on a lake? Did you refurbish your kitchen or bathroom? Often, these qualitative factors enhance the value of your home. The ePropertyWatch service allows you to increase the value of your home in your baseline estimate for your own record keeping purposes.
What if I entered the wrong email during registration?
Answer:
If the email address you used during registration had an error, please submit a help request here and include your name, address, incorrect email and correct email in your request so we can help you.
What if your lien information is wrong?
Answer:
We report to you what we collect from your local county recorder’s office. That doesn’t guarantee that the information we gather is correct. That’s why it’s important for you to consistently verify the information. If it’s not correct, then check with your county. Find out why. It always pays to be vigilant and check for yourself. While we undertake efforts to ensure we copy the information accurately, a small amount of error is unavoidable.
What is ePropertyWatch?
Answer:
ePropertyWatch is a free service that monitors your home address for liens based upon information received from your county recorder’s office. If we obtain information that a lien has been placed, you are notified by email. In addition, ePropertyWatch also tracks and alerts you of other important information about your home and neighborhood. This may include your current estimated home value, nearby sales and foreclosures, and real estate market trends in your zip code, city, and state.
Why do I need ePropertyWatch?
Answer:
A growing fraud in the United States is that of “House Stealing”. The FBI has a page on their web site dedicated to warning Americans about this growing problem: http://www.fbi.gov/page2/march08/housestealing_032508.html While ePropertyWatch can not keep your home from being preyed on by those practicing “House Stealing” – it may give you early warning of potential problems. The FBI advises “from time to time, it’s also a good idea to check all information pertaining to your house through your county’s deeds office. If you see any paperwork you don’t recognize or any signature that is not yours, look into it". ePropertyWatch assists you with this process by alerting you to the liens that have been reported to CoreLogic. Please note, while ePropertyWatch covers the majority of transactions, you should also check information your county's recorder's office directly, to ensure that information is accurate and complete.
